During the recent lockdown measures, Wirral’s musicians found themselves with time on their hands. Without regular live gigs to keep them occupied, many looked for alternative ways to keep their creativity alive.

Born of this enforced hiatus in the local music scene, a new musical partnership has been formed featuring legendary singer/songwriter Dean Johnson and Alistair ‘Aggi’ Clynch, long regarded as the area’s finest guitarist.

Dean was originally discovered by Chris Difford of Squeeze fame, and went on to record with Wet Wet Wet, and tour with the likes of Bryan Ferry and the Beach Boys; whilst ‘Aggi’ is a stalwart of the local pub rock scene, fronting the ever popular ‘Bilko’s Privates’, as well as appearing in theatre shows alongside Slade and other giants of the glam rock era.

This spontaneous ‘supergroup’ have completed their debut album over the last 3 months in isolation, with Dean writing and recording the basic tracks from his garden shed and ‘Aggi’ adding his guitar wizardry and 3 octave backing vocals via his basement man-cave.

They have already picked up a record deal via the SecundaMusic label and their album entitled Johnson/Clynch, is released in August.

Songs previewed from the album have proved popular with the video for 'Condemn My Heart' commanding hundreds of views a night in North America. Their poignant collaboration with rock critic Gavin Martin, entitled 'Stealin' The Prize', was particularly admired.

The 'dynamic' duo will feature in their own full length film later this summer, directed by the group's '3rd member', director Mal Robinson.
